Industrial Engineer CDR Example: Senior (Bottlenecks, ERP and Factory Layout)
Industrial Engineer · Engineering manager
About this CDR
Three Career Episodes from an industrial engineering manager in food production: removing the filling bottleneck at a health food producer with new automatic filling equipment, implementing an ERP system with manufacturing KPIs, and developing the factory layout for a plant-based meat start-up to Good Manufacturing Practice. This CDR was assessed and approved by Engineers Australia under the Professional Engineer (PE) competency standard.
How to use this CDR
Use this CDR as a guide to the structure, technical detail and writing style that Engineers Australia assessors accept, then write your own Career Episodes about your own projects, in your own words. This CDR was written entirely by a human writer, with no AI tools used at any stage.

Filling Bottleneck and New Automatic Filling Equipment
As Industrial Engineer Manager at a health food producer, analysed the process flow to find the manual filling bottleneck, ran time and motion studies, designed automatic filling equipment with a supplier and justified it with a payback of about 8 months. Filling capacity rose from 42 to 208 kg per hour.
ERP System Implementation and Manufacturing KPIs
Led the ERP implementation for the same producer, replacing spreadsheets and basic software. Set up master data, moved production to a pull system, matched virtual and physical stock, set KPIs such as inventory turns, OEE and downtime, and trained the operations team as key user.
Plant-Based Meat Factory Layout
Developed the factory and warehouse layout for a plant-based meat start-up. Planned the production flow, cold rooms and storage areas to Good Manufacturing Practice, and coordinated construction, quality and regulatory requirements as project manager.
Summary Statement
Maps all 16 Professional Engineer competency elements (PE1.1 to PE3.6) to the exact paragraphs in the three Career Episodes where it is demonstrated, so the assessor can check each element quickly.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
A list of the professional development completed since graduation, such as courses, training, conferences, seminars and self-study, set out in the format Engineers Australia asks for.
